Job Overview
The Machine Assembly Engineer / Technician will be responsible for assembling industrial machines and equipment according to technical drawings, engineering specifications, and company quality standards. The role requires strong hands-on skills in mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, component installation, and machine testing.
In a manufacturing setup, this position acts as a critical link between the design, production, and quality teams, ensuring that machines are assembled accurately and function properly before delivery or installation.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with technical drawings, mechanical tools, electrical wiring, and automation components while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Assembly & Installation (Core Responsibility)
- Assemble machines, equipment, and sub-assemblies as per technical drawings and engineering instructions.
- Install and align mechanical components such as:
- Frames and structures
- Motors and gearboxes
- Bearings and shafts
- Pneumatic and hydraulic components
- Perform electrical installation, including:
- Wiring of motors and sensors
- Connection of control panels
- Cable routing and termination
- Ensure proper mechanical alignment, tightening, and calibration of components.
2. Technical Drawing Interpretation
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and assembly diagrams.
- Follow Bill of Materials (BOM) and assembly instructions.
- Identify any design inconsistencies or missing components during assembly.
3. Machine Testing & Troubleshooting
- Conduct initial machine testing after assembly.
- Verify proper functioning of:
- Motors
- Sensors
- Pneumatic or hydraulic systems
- Control panels
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, or wiring issues.
- Support engineers in performance testing and machine optimization.
4. Coordination with Engineering & Production Teams
- Work closely with the design team to clarify technical drawings.
- Coordinate with production and stores teams to ensure availability of components.
- Provide feedback on assembly improvements and design modifications.
5. Quality Control & Safety Compliance
- Perform quality checks to ensure assembly meets company standards.
- Ensure machines are tested and approved before dispatch or installation.
- Follow all factory safety guidelines and procedures during assembly work.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain assembly reports and work logs.
- Record details of testing results and troubleshooting activities.

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Basic knowledge of PLC systems, sensors, and industrial wiring.
- Hands-on experience with assembly tools and measuring instruments.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Understanding of industrial safety standards and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- Experience in industrial machine assembly or manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of automation systems, PLC panels, and industrial control systems.
