Our Journey
How We Started?
The idea for DigiFabb was born in 2014, when one of our co-founders—then still in college—faced difficulty sourcing custom gearboxes for Gravity Light, a social innovation project developed for the non-profit organization Parishodh. This challenge highlighted a larger problem: access to reliable, flexible manufacturing was limited, expensive, and often out of reach.
At the time, 3D printing in India was still in its infancy. Inspired by the global RepRap movement and the rise of open-source hardware, we began by assembling a Prusa i3 FDM 3D printer kit. Our early vision was to build a 3D printing service bureau, which were not easily accessible in India—while also spreading awareness through workshops and hands-on training for students and hobbyists.
As we worked closely with early adopters, assembling and supporting FDM printers for the community, we gained firsthand insight into the limitations of low-end FDM technology. Frequent issues such as nozzle clogging, bed levelling, and inconsistent output made it unsuitable for non-hobbyist and professional users. This realization led us to a pivotal decision: to focus on more reliable technologies with wider industrial relevance.
How We got Here?
A defining moment came during a visit to a jewellery manufacturing facility, where we observed resin 3D printing being used in production. The scale, precision, and impact of additive manufacturing in jewellery far exceeded our initial expectations. Recognizing the potential, we began exploring SLA and DLP technologies and collaborating with other industry enthusiasts to better understand their applications.
Between 2015 and 2016, DigiFabb developed its first in-house DLP 3D printer based on UV LED technology—an industry-first at a time when most systems relied on consumer projectors with limited lifespan and reliability. Through continuous innovation, we achieved uniform printing across the build platform and increased printing speeds by nearly ten times. These advancements marked our transition from experimentation to commercialization and established DigiFabb as a key player in professional jewellery resin 3D printing in India.
As adoption increased, it became evident that hardware alone was not enough. From 2016 to 2020, we invested heavily in software development, building tools that significantly reduced manual effort in support generation, handled complex and error-prone files with ease, and introduced a high-speed raster-based slicer that far outperformed industry standards of the time. During this period, DigiFabb emerged as the dominant resin 3D printing solution provider for the jewellery industry in India.
More importantly, our close relationship with customers revealed a deeper market challenge. The true barrier to success was not access to machines, but the absence of complete, knowledgeable solution providers. Many customers lacked formal training or resources, and downtime directly affected their businesses. To ensure their success, DigiFabb began taking responsibility for the entire workflow—covering installation, training, troubleshooting, process optimization, and long-term support.
From 2020 onward, DigiFabb consciously evolved from a product-focused company into a solution-first organization. We began collaborating with global manufacturers to bring proven technologies to the Indian market while focusing our expertise on applications and technical support. As jewellery manufacturing shifted toward customization and reduced dependence on skilled manual labour, MJP wax 3D printing emerged as a transformative technology, enabling automated support generation, clean burnout, and streamlined workflows.
This evolution led to our partnership with Flashforge for the distribution of WaxJet MJP wax 3D printers in India. Today, DigiFabb plays a central role in shaping the Indian jewellery 3D printing ecosystem while expanding into healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, education, and other industries where precision and reliability are critical.
What started as a college experiment has grown into a solutions-driven company built on deep technical understanding, long-term customer commitment, and the belief that advanced manufacturing should be accessible, dependable, and impactful.

Vijay leads technology and product strategy at DigiFabb, with deep hands-on expertise in 3D printer hardware, resin and wax technologies, and advanced software workflows. An alumnus of BITS Pilani and a former Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Summer Research Fellow, he has driven key innovations including reducing print times by nearly 10×, developing high-speed raster-based slicing software, automating build layout to improve output by over 30%, and simplifying support generation. His focus is on building reliable, application-driven solutions that deliver long-term customer value.
